Speaking recently on The Beautiful Game Podcast, Christian Falk discussed a number of topics surrounding the summer transfer market, and also touched on the future of Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp.

Since taking over at Liverpool back in 2015, it is fair to say that Klopp has transformed the club.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

In his first season in charge, he guided the club to the final of the Europa League, while in his third year, he led them the Champions League final, before going one better and winning the competition in their following campaign.

Then, last season, Klopp won Liverpool their first top-flight championship for 30 years, cementing himself into Liverpool’s history books.

Back in December, the German manager was awarded a new four-year deal with the club, which will see him remain Liverpool boss until 2024, however, speaking recently on The Beautiful Game Podcast, Falk discussed when, or for whom, Klopp would leave Liverpool.

He said: “I think he needs a sabbatical, but this is what he thinks. I heard also from friends of his that when he’s sitting at home for one month he has so much power that he has to go out and do a job again.

“I think we will see him at the next step on the bench of the German national team, and then we have to wait because [Joachim] Low has this job and he’s doing normally very good – not at the last tournament – but I think it wasn’t his fault.

“I think when Jogi Low retires, the first man who will get a call is Jurgen Klopp and I think he’s going [to pick up the] telephone.”

TIF Thoughts…

From Falk’s comments, it would appear that he believes that Klopp would indeed leave the club if it were for the German national team role, which, for a Liverpool fan, must be slightly concerning news.

However, considering what Klopp has done for the team already, as well as the fact that, if he does get near 2024 while still at the club, he will have nearly been on Merseyside for a decade, it is our opinion that it could be best for all parties that the German boss and the club go their separate ways, in order to keep both of them fresh.
