Liverpool journalist Matt Addison has been discussing the possibility of the Reds making a transfer move for RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka this summer.
This comes after Addison recently made an appearance on the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast where he talked about the latest goings-on at the Merseyside club, including the man who scored 24 goals in 31 games in the Austrian Bundesliga last season.
After it was recently reported that Liverpool are the current favourites to sign Daka ahead of fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester United, this is what Addison had to say on the matter.
He said: “[Daka is] certainly one to keep an eye on obviously with a goal record like that.
“He looked very good against Liverpool you’ve got to say, two goals, obviously, it’s not always an easy thing to get past Liverpool, not too many teams, forget individual players, can score two goals in a game past Liverpool.
“He looked like an interesting player, didn’t he? But at this stage, I think it’s very much Liverpool just having a look, taking a look, doing their due diligence.
“There’s nothing concrete in it at this stage, but who knows what might happen over the next few months.”
As Addison mentioned in the podcast, Daka scored two goals against Jurgen Klopp’s side in their pre-season 2-2 draw against Salzburg last month.
The 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £18 million, made his debut for Salzburg back in August 2017. Since then, the forward has made 83 senior appearances for the club in which he has managed to score 34 goals and provide 15 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
The 2019/20 Austrian Bundesliga season saw Daka make 31 league appearances for Salzburg in which he scored an impressive 24 goals and provided eight assists.

Given how impressive Daka was for Salzburg last season in terms of his goalscoring record, it’s no surprise that Liverpool, Arsenal and United have been linked with a move for him this summer.
If Liverpool do manage to sign him during the current window, you would think that Daka could provide an extra attacking option for Jurgen Klopp’s side heading into the 2020/21 season.
