Liverpool journalist James Pearce has been discussing the possibility of Reds midfielder Marko Grujic leaving the club during the current summer transfer window.

This comes after Pearce recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Headline Podcast to discuss the latest news topics concerning the Merseyside club at the moment.

First up in this Jordan Henderson quiz, how old is the Liverpool captain?

On the subject of which current Liverpool players could potentially be leaving the club in the coming weeks, Pearce had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Liverpool are looking for buyers for Harry Wilson, for Marko Grujic. I think each of those are valued at £20 million, which I think is probably overly optimistic. As we get closer to the window shutting, I can see those demands dropping a bit. We know Grujic has attracted interest from Borussia Monchengladbach.”

The 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £13.05 million, signed for Jurgen Klopp’s side back in the 2016 January transfer window from Red Star Belgrade for £6.3 million.

Since then, the Serbian has spent time away from Liverpool on loan at clubs such as Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin, as well as a short return to Red Star.

Grujic has only made 14 senior appearances for the Reds since he arrived at Anfield in which he has managed to provide just one assist for his Liverpool teammates.

Do you think Liverpool have given Grujic a fair chance to perform at the club?

TIF Thoughts…

It’s a shame that Grujic is facing the exit door at Liverpool when he hasn’t really managed to make a name for himself at the club.

However, if the club were to receive a fee of anywhere near their asking price of £20 million, as Pearce states, the club could potentially still make a decent profit on a player who has featured an extremely limited amount for the club.
