LFC Daytrippers contributor Grizz Khan has been discussing the reaction of some Liverpool fans following the emergence of reports the club could be looking to sell Rhian Brewster on a recent episode of the podcast.

Earlier in the week, Sky Sports reported that Jurgen Klopp’s side are considering selling the 20-year-old ‘with the possible protection of a buy-back clause’. Brewster spent the second half of last season on loan at Swansea City in the Championship where he made 20 appearances in the competition and scored 10 goals (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

When discussing the subject of the forward, Khan made it clear he was surprised by the responses he had come across from some of his fellow Liverpool supporters to this particular report. Here is what he had to say:

“I don’t know why our fans – some of the outrage today about a rumour that Brewster might be sold as opposed to just loaned out was outrageous, it was crazy. People are up in arms about Brewster like he is the Messi of Liverpool. What has he done that is so brilliant?”

TIF Thoughts…

Judging by Khan’s comments, he doesn’t feel Brewster has shown enough during his time in Wales and in the red of Liverpool – although he hasn’t had many opportunities – to warrant the reaction he has seen from some of the Anfield faithful. Taking all of the above into consideration and, in particular, the fact he’s played just four times for the first-team, you could argue the podcaster has a point.

According to Sky Sports, a number of Premier League clubs have expressed their interest in the striker, with Aston Villa, Brighton and Sheffield United said to be among them. For now, he remains a Liverpool player but that could change between now and the end of the transfer window.
