Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Liverpool’s reported transfer interest in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.
This comes after Romano recently co-hosted his transfer-themed Here We Go podcast where he spoke about the latest transfer-related topics concerning a number of different clubs.
During the episode, Romano had this to say on the Merseyside club’s interest in Sarr.
He said: “Sarr was [on] the list for Liverpool. If they didn’t sign Diogo Jota, they [would] consider him. They also had some preliminary talks with Watford to understand the situation of Sarr – they immediately said no, about €30 million, €35 million, they always ask for €50 million to sell Ismaila Sarr, so [at] this moment, Liverpool are not going with Sarr.”
Sarr signed to Watford back in the 2019 summer transfer window from French outfit Stade Rennais for a fee of £27 million.
The winger, who is currently valued at £22.05 million, made a total of 28 appearances for Watford in their 2019/20 Premier League campaign, earning himself a season rating of 6.71/10 for his performances (per WhoScored).
Throughout the previous season, Sarr averaged a total of 1.6 shots per game and 1.7 dribbles per game for Watford in the Premier League.
Do you think Liverpool need to sign Sarr?
Yes, he'd be a good squad player
No, we don't need him
TIF Thoughts…
As Romano mentioned in the podcast, the recent arrival of Diogo Jota at Anfield and Sarr’s hefty price tag of €50 million (£45.7 million) seemed to have put the Reds off trying to strike a deal for the Watford winger.
Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if any other club could be tempted into making a move for Sarr before the current summer transfer window closes in October.
