Many Leeds United supporters have been reacting to a Twitter post from The Sun, which shared a report which claims the Whites are looking to make a ‘second’ attempt to sign Daniel James.
According to the report, the Yorkshire-based giants ‘unveiled’ the player as one of their own back in January 2019 but the transfer from Swansea collapsed on deadline day. The following summer, the 22-year-old signed for Manchester United in a deal reportedly worth £15.3m (as per Transfermarkt) for whom he has gone on to make 47 appearances, scoring four goals and providing his teammates with seven assists.
The Sun claim that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are confident they can land the player for approximately £12m plus add-ons and the boss is said to be a long-time admirer of the Welshman.
Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have been responding to the report via social media.
he’s got the potential to be a top player and would flourish under a decent coach

I’d be happy with that, although more attacking options isn’t exactly what we need right now.

I’d 100% have him in the team! #MOT #bittersweet

Would you like to see Leeds move for Daniel James?
Yes
No
These Leeds fans appeared to be excited by the prospect of their club signing James. During the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, the player’s average performance rating was a solid 6.61/10 according to WhoScored.com in his first season playing in the top-flight. Some, however, were not quite as enthused by the idea of the Whites moving for the player during this transfer window.
Helder Costa and Jack Harrison are both better than him.

Regular games? I assume you mean coming on as a sub because he’s not starting over Harrison or Costa on either wing if we get him.

According to the article, Bielsa is looking to add ‘extra pace’ and ‘variety’ to his front line, therefore, we could still see the newly promoted club move for the £17.1m-rated player.
