The Athletic’s David Ornstein recently wrote an article in which he shed some light on Leeds United’s pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Haydon Roberts.

According to the journalist’s recent report, the Whites have had an offer rejected by the Seagulls for the 18-year-old defender who has currently got less than 12 months remaining on his contract with Brighton.

Nice easy one to start with, who scored Leeds' first goal of the PL season?

As per Ornstein, the defender, who is a Brighton & Hove Albion academy product and has made 14 appearances for England at U17 level and five England appearances at U18 level, is ‘well thought of at the south coast club,’ which indicates that Graham Potter’s side may not be too keen on selling him, especially to a Premier League rival in Leeds United.

TIF Thoughts…

Roberts isn’t the first Brighton centre-back that Leeds have targeted in the current transfer window, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side having had three bids rejected by the Seagulls for Ben White back in the summer. White was on loan at Elland Road for the 2019/20 season and he played every league minute of Leeds’ title-winning Championship campaign during his time at the club.

Would Haydon Roberts be a good signing for Leeds?

YES, DEFINITELY

YES, DEFINITELY

I'M NOT SURE

I'M NOT SURE

According to Ornstein’s article, Brighton ‘are once again adamant that a defender will not be sold,’ following Leeds’ bid for Roberts and with that in mind, we feel that it seems as though the Whites’ chances of securing the 18-year-old’s signature are slim and perhaps Leeds’ pursuit of Roberts may lead to a similar result as their previous pursuit of White, with the club ultimately failing to sign the player.
