Phil Hay has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s The Phil Hay Show, and he has been talking about all things relating to Leeds United.

Nice easy one to start with, who scored Leeds' first goal of the PL season?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was transfers, and he spoke a little bit about Ryan Kent after Leeds had a bid rejected for the Rangers man earlier in the summer.

It seems as if Marcelo Bielsa likes the Rangers man, but the reason why they might not have bid for him again is that they would rather have Daniel James from Manchester United, who they have been linked with recently.

He said: “The Kent situation fascinates me because they did bid for him, and since then have done nothing, despite the fact that they are still interested.

“A bit like James, he’s a player that Bielsa really, really likes, but the fact that there hasn’t been any movement there and there hasn’t really been any attempt to move it on, again, makes me wonder if that is because they are wondering or suspecting if James is going to become available and if they have the choice of the two they would rather have him than they would Ryan Kent.”

TIF Thoughts…

The Whites submitted an offer for Kent that was rejected by Rangers, and despite talk of a second offer, as of yet, they have not done anything, and he is still with the Gers.

The former Liverpool man has had a stellar season so far, having scored five goals and provided five assists in all competitions for Rangers (nine games), so you can see why Leeds are interested.

However, if Hay is correct, then they might be waiting to see if James becomes available rather than trying again for Kent, but as it stands, James does not expect to leave the Red Devils either on loan or permanently.

So, it remains to be seen what happens, but the Whites do like Kent. However, they might not make a move for him again in this window if they can get James instead.
