A lot of Leeds United fans have flocked to Twitter to slam Barry Douglas for his performance in the Whites’ League Cup loss to Hull City.

Leeds scored a last-minute equaliser to take the game to penalties, but eventually lost 9-8 in the following shootout.

Douglas was on the pitch for the full game on Wednesday and according to WhoScored, he played more key passes (three) than any other Leeds United player and also played more accurate crosses (three) than any other Leeds player against Hull City, with no other member of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad managing to play a single accurate cross in this League Cup fixture.

However, this didn’t impress some Whites supporters, many of whom took to Twitter to slate the 31-year-old left-back’s performance in this game.

Nice easy one to start with, who scored Leeds' first goal of the PL season?

Did Douglas play badly versus Hull City?

Judging by these tweets, plenty of the club’s supporters seem to believe that the Scottish left-back was one of the Yorkshire-based club’s worst performers against Hull.

However, it may be fair to say that Douglas, who is valued at £1.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), was one of the Whites’ more creative players versus Hull City, given that he played more key passes than any other Leeds player in this game – and with that in mind, as well as the fact that he did also manage to convert his spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out, we feel that this criticism may be somewhat harsh.
