Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest transfer update concerning their pursuit of Dinamo Zagreb defender Josko Gvardiol.
This comes after football journalist Fabrizio Romano shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that the Yorkshire club are now “out of the race” to sign Gvardiol.
Romano added that Leeds agreed a deal with Zagreb for the sale of the defender, only for Gvardiol to refuse their last contract offer.
He then relayed news originally shared by Sportske Novosti that Gvardiol will be heading to German club RB Leipzig instead.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Leeds fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this latest update.
Here’s a sample of Leeds fans responding to the post:
Leeds are now out of the race to sign Josko Gvardiol. #LUFC agreed fee with Dinamo but Gvardiol refused last contract bid – he’s going to join RB Leipzig, as per Sportske Novotski. Still no agreement for Rodrigo de Paul with Udinese. Last bid [€25m] has been turned down. ??

Leeds need to recruit a recruiter who can do a better job in getting new quality players signed than whoever is handling it right now. Gvardiol has been in radar for weeks and now this. Ditto de Paul still no news of him signing. A lot of time and resources wasted. #lufc #mot

If he doesn’t want to join then we don’t want him either?? https://t.co/BxKbur5nUw

Gvardiol, who is currently valued at £5.4 million, has only made 15 appearances for the Zagreb senior team but has managed to grab himself a goal and an assist in that time.
Need a CB, but not fussed on missing out on him when he’s over £20m ? Radrizzani needs to pull his finger out and chuck some more money in for De Paul though. https://t.co/9ev9bisWBW

Aw man, this is a real shame. But nothing we can do if player wants a different move https://t.co/81PzhB8dod

Now that Romano has shared this news onto his official Twitter page, this gave lots of Leeds fans the opportunity to have their say on the matter.
It’s ok. We have Pascal Struijk!! Keep your chin up #LUFC.. But let us still find some back up for the CB position lol. Even someone on loan

That’s the end of that then.

Would you be disappointed if Leeds miss out on Gvardiol?
Yes
No
It appears that some of these Leeds fans are quite disheartened by the fact that they could possibly be missing out on signing Gvardiol, whereas others aren’t too bothered about it.
It’ll be interesting to see if Leeds do end up missing out on Gvardiol and if they then try and sign another defender instead before the window shuts.
