Fans of Leeds United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which the club confirmed that Alfie McCalmont would be joining Oldham Athletic on loan until the end of the season.
In a statement on the Leeds website, the club said that the 20-year-old Northern Ireland international will ‘continue his development away from Elland Road’ and that they wished the midfielder luck for his time at Boundary Park.
After the club posted a link to this statement on Twitter, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating their belief that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are already light in midfield, and that they hope the sending of McCalmont on loan means that there is an incoming transfer on the way.

2 midfielders going out on loan ? time for de Paul

While McCalmont has made his first-team debut for Leeds, in a 3-0 victory over Salford City in the Carabao Cup last season, the midfielder is yet to feature in a league game for the club, meaning that a loan move away from the club is, in our opinion, quite a sensible move by Leeds.
However, as the previous fans pointed out, the club are slightly short on senior central midfielders, with Adam Forshaw’s injury meaning that Mateusz Klich is the only player Leeds have who is a natural in that position above the age 20.
Do you think Leeds will sign De Paul?
No, we won't
Yes, it will happen
And it would seem that this has led to many more Leeds fans thinking that the club will be bringing in another player in the middle of the park.
Ok but now announce de Paul

All the best kid. Come back a better player and fighting for a first team place ?

All in all, it would seem that these Leeds fans are desperate to see their club bring in another player in central midfield, especially after the departure of McCalmont, and with the transfer window closing in just over a week’s time, Leeds don’t have a great deal of time to act in the market if they are to add to their squad.
