Leeds United YouTuber Conor McGilligan has been singing the praises of Leeds centre-half Pascal Struijk for his display against Liverpool at the weekend.

This comes after McGilligan recently released a video on his Leeds-themed YouTube channel called In Full Swing where he spoke about a range of topics surrounding the Yorkshire club.

Nice easy one to start with, who scored Leeds' first goal of the PL season?

On the subject of Struijk and his performance in Leeds’ 4-3 defeat to the Reds, McGilligan was full of praise for the Dutchman.

He said: “I thought he was superb, and for me, I wouldn’t be going out for a left-sided centre-back after that Pascal performance because, you know, you look at that against the best team in the world, for me, in Liverpool, the best attack, the best front three in the world – and I thought Pascal was absolutely insane.

“For me, there’s not been enough chat about Pascal Struijk. I thought, for me, he was man of the match.”

The 21-year-old made his senior debut for Leeds back in December 2019 when Leeds were in the Championship. Since then, the defender has only made a further five appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

In the match against Liverpool, Struijk earned himself a match rating of 7/10, making him Leeds’ fifth-highest rated player on the day (per WhoScored).

Defensively, Struijk made four tackles, made three interceptions, blocked two shots and made more clearances than any other Leeds player on the pitch with 11.

TIF Thoughts…

Despite Leeds losing the game, the statistics behind it certainly show that Struijk had a good game against Liverpool.

Given how the Dutchman hasn’t made that many senior appearances for Leeds since his debut, his performance against the Reds would be a big boost for the Yorkshire club.

If the defender puts in more performances for Leeds like he did at Anfield, he could well become an important figure for the team this season in the Premier League.
