Sky Sports has recently reported that Crystal Palace, as well as their fellow Premier League competitors Sheffield United, have ‘held talks with Liverpool over a deal for Rhian Brewster’.

This article claims that as many as six Premier League clubs have declared their interest in the striker, however, only Palace and the Blades are said to have actually held talks with the Reds over a potential transfer.

Despite these reports, it is also explained that it is not yet certain whether Brewster will leave Anfield in the current transfer window.

If the 20-year-old is sold by the Merseyside club, it is said to be ‘likely’ that the Reds will ‘insist on a buy-back clause’ being inserted into any deal for the player.

TIF Thoughts…

Considering that Sky Sports has claimed that the Eagles have held talks with the Reds over the player’s transfer, it would seem that Roy Hodgson’s side do rate the centre-forward highly.

Palace were the second-lowest scoring team in England’s top flight last season, so perhaps they believe that Brewster would bolster their attacking options and add goals for them, with the attacker demonstrating his goalscoring quality during a loan spell with Swansea City last term, as he scored 11 goals in 22 Championship appearances for them as they made the play-off semi-finals.

Furthermore, it was reported earlier in the current transfer window that Palace are keen on lowering the average age of their squad and the addition of 20-year-old Brewster would go some way to achieving that, so with that in mind, we believe that £4.86m-rated talent would be a sensible signing for Palace should they be able to sign him for a reasonable transfer fee.
