According to a recent report, Crystal Palace are ‘keeping a close eye’ on Sassuolo winger, Jeremie Boga.

The report by the Evening Standard states that Palace could be interested in the 23-year-old in the current transfer window, however, that their move will depend on whether or not Wilfried Zaha, who has told the club he would like to leave, does indeed make a move away from south London before the transfer window closes.

Crystal Palace fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Palace 19/20 season quiz. We'll start off with an easy one... Which side did Palace face on the opening day of the 19/20 Premier League season?

The Evening Standard goes on to state that, at present, there has been ‘little to no interest’ in Zaha so far this summer, although, if a club were to come in for the 27-year-old, and subsequently, Palace were to make a move for Boga, the Serie A side would demand a £35 million fee for the £22.5 million-rated Ivory Coast international.

Since his £2.7 million move from Chelsea’s U23 side to Sassuolo back in 2018, the left-winger has impressed for the Neroverdi, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists over his 62 appearances for the club.

Last season, Boga featured 34 times in Serie A, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.17.

TIF Thoughts…

Considering the fact that Palace are looking to lower the average age of their squad, which was the oldest in the Premier League last season, over the summer transfer window, the signing of the 23-year-old Boga would certainly tick that box for the Eagles.

However, as the report by the Evening Standard suggests, the move will only go ahead if Zaha does end up leaving the club, which, at present, does not look likely.

So, from a Palace fan’s perspective, it may well be worth keeping an eye on this deal, but, in our opinion, we wouldn’t recommend holding your breath.
