On the latest episode of the Claret and Blue podcast, Dan Rolinson and James Rushton were joined by Brentford fan Billy Grant to discuss the recent signing of Ollie Watkins, as well as some of the other transfer rumours surrounding Aston Villa.

One topic of discussion on the recent podcast was the likely signing of Norwich City academy striker Ruben Shakpoke. It was reported earlier this month that the Villans had completed the signing of the 16-year-old, although an official announcement is yet to be made by the club.

In this 2019/20 season quiz, do you remember who scored Villa's first PL goal of the season?

Here’s what Rushton had to say about the youngster’s likely signing on the podcast:

“A few other youngsters coming into the club, Shakpoke from Norwich, [is] probably coming in. I think he has signed, he hasn’t been announced because he’s an under-23 player.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Rushton suggests, Villa have completed the signing of the forward, although it is yet to be announced because he will be joining up with one of the academy sides at first. Birmingham Mail included a report from All Nigeria Soccer which suggests that Dean Smith’s side have pulled off a transfer coup in signing the 16-year-old, fending off interest from PSV Eindhoven in the forward.

Are you happy to hear that Shakpoke is likely to be signing?

Although the youngster is unlikely to feature for the senior side at Villa anytime soon, the fact that he once scored 11 goals in one game against Watford under-15s, suggests that he certainly has an eye for goal and a lot of potential, so hopefully this won’t be the last Villa fans hear of him.
