Aston Villa podcaster Cole Pettem has been sharing his thoughts on the club’s transfer plans for the remainder of the current summer window.

This comes after Pettem recently hosted an episode of Villa-themed podcast Holtecast, where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Dean Smith’s side.

First up in this Tyrone Mings quiz, how old is the Villa defender?

On the subject of the incoming transfers Villa have made throughout the summer, Pettem shared his thoughts on what the club will be looking to do for the remainder of the transfer window.

He said: “I’m sure we’re going to see another signing here shortly, whether it’s a winger [or] central midfielders. I think now, if we don’t sign another winger and that’s kind of it, at least we have one to improve that area of the pitch, but I think now is also the time to start bringing in more quality depth signings.”

Do you think Villa will sign anymore players before the window shuts?

So far, Villa have spent a total of £74.12 million, bringing in players such as Matty Cash, Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Martinez and Bertrand Traore (per Transfermarkt).

Villa ended their 2019/20 Premier League campaign by narrowly avoiding relegation after drawing 1-1 away against West Ham United on the final day, ultimately ending the season in 17th place with 35 points.

TIF Thoughts…

Despite the club having already spent a substantial amount of money on incoming transfers during the summer window, it’s interesting to hear that Pettem thinks Villa will still go for another player before the window shuts in October.

If the club do manage to sign another player, it will be intriguing to see what position they go for, having already signed a goalkeeper, full-back, winger and striker so far.
