Aston Villa journalist Gregg Evans has been talking about the club’s transfer plans for the remainder of the current summer window.

This comes after Evans recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Villa-themed podcast 1874 where he went through the latest goings-on at Villa Park at the moment.

Jack Grealish quiz: First up, how old is the Villa captain?

On the topic of any potential incoming transfers at Villa, Evans had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I expect Villa to still maybe get one or two more players in, they’re still certainly looking at it, if they can improve other areas, then they’ll certainly do it.

“I said last week on the podcast that they wanted a midfielder – that’s an area that they are still looking at, so we’ll wait and see on that one.”

So far in this current summer window, Villa have spent a total of £57.56 million after bringing Matty Cash, Ollie Watkins and Emi Martinez to Villa Park on permanent deals (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

It’s good to see that Villa have already brought some players in to boost the squad for their 2020/21 Premier League season.

Everyone at Villa will undoubtedly be hoping that these new signings will be able to help the club avoid another relegation battle this season after they narrowly avoided the drop at the end of their previous campaign by drawing 1-1 against West Ham United on the final day of the 2019/20 season.

With the Birmingham club having been linked with a move for Werder Bremen attacker Milot Rashica as well as Olympique Lyon winger Bertrand Traore, these could be the two players that Evans referred to in the podcast when he said he expects Villa to bring in a couple more players before the window shuts.
