In the latest video for his YouTube channel, Goal correspondent Charles Watts has been discussing the latest goings-on at Arsenal, and shedding some light on some of the deals the Gunners could do before the end of the transfer window.

One topic of discussion on the recent video was Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi. The 21-year-old didn’t look to have a bright future with the north London club following Mikel Arteta’s decision to drop him last season, following his altercation with Brighton’s Neil Maupay in June.  The Frenchman has unsurprisingly been linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer, with the likes of Barcelona and PSG reportedly interested.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Here’s what Watts had to say about the midfielder in his YouTube video:

“Paris Saint-Germain are also in for Matteo Guendouzi and that, at the moment, looks like the more likely option in terms of if Arsenal do manage to get Guendouzi out; it could well be to Paris.

“The reports from France coming in [suggest] that they are willing to offer [Julian] Draxler in return for Guendouzi. Draxler is a player who has been linked with Arsenal seemingly every single year for the past decade [but] never happened. If it was going to happen, it would have happened a while ago – now, I just don’t see it.”

TIF Thoughts…

It seems as if Guendouzi is close to departing the Emirates this summer but from what Watts suggests, the Gunners are unlikely to accept a swap offer involving Julian Draxler. Considering Guendouzi is currently valued at £28.8 million by Transfermarkt, whilst the German midfielder is valued at £21.6 million and is five years older than the Frenchman, you can certainly make the argument that the deal wouldn’t make financial sense.

Will you be disappointed to see Guendouzi leave?

It will be interesting to see where the former Lorient man ends up this summer, although, from everything Watts discusses, it seems as if a return to France with PSG seems the most likely option despite Arsenal averse to a swap deal.
