Dom Howson and James Marriott discussed all the latest Sheffield Wednesday news on the most recent edition of the Singing The Blues podcast and during the show, Howson shed some light on the Owls’ interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Dion Sanderson.

The 20-year-old defender has made just one appearance for Wolves’ senior side thus far in his young career and he spent from 31st January until the end of the 2019/20 season on loan with Cardiff City, making 10 league appearances for them during that loan spell.

To kick off this week's EFL quiz, who is the top goalscorer in the Championship following game week three?

With less than a year remaining on his Wolves contract, Sanderson has recently expressed some interest in departing from Molineux on loan once again this term, while Cardiff City boss Neil Harris didn’t rule out the possibility of the Welsh side taking him back on loan again.

However, with Owls centre-back Dominic Iorfa being linked with a move away from Hillsborough recently, Howson shared that Wednesday may be a possible destination for Sanderson, should Wolves allow him to leave, during this recent edition of Singing The Blues.

When asked about transfer rumours concerning Wednesday that are “not doing the rounds,” Howson brought up the Yorkshire-based club’s interest in Sanderson, saying: “The only other one that’s still there is Dion Sanderson at Wolves.

“Wednesday like him, they’re interested in him but then I feel as if he’s not the number one target. I don’t think Dion Sanderson is at the top of the priority list but he is there and he’s in the final year of his contract at Wolves.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Howson had to say, while the journalist doesn’t think that Sanderson is a priority target for the Owls, the club is seemingly keeping tabs on the £135k-rated Wolves man.

Considering that Sanderson’s deal with Wolves runs out at the end of this season, it will be interesting to if the player moves on a short-term or long-term loan if he does leave Molineux.

The Owls would have until 16th October to complete this transfer, so it will be intriguing to see how this potential deal develops over the coming weeks.
