Sheffield Wednesday journalist Dom Howson discussed the latest news concerning the Owls on the most recent edition of the Singing The Blues podcast and he spent some time talking about Wednesday’s new forward Elias Kachunga during the show.

The former Huddersfield Town striker joined the Owls on a free transfer earlier this month. In his four seasons with the Terriers, one of which he spent on loan with the Yorkshire club, he scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 128 appearances.

We will look at Marcelo Bielsa to kick off this quiz on the Championship's managers, which of these national teams has the Leeds United boss managed?

Following the 28-year-old’s move to Hillsborough, Howson shared his thoughts on the player during the latest edition of the Singing The Blues podcast and he made some encouraging comments about the forward, saying: “I think character is a big thing with Kachunga.

“He was superb in the season Huddersfield got promoted and, as we know, beat Wednesday in the play-offs. He was their top scorer – 13 goals that season.

“[He’s] deceptively good in the air for a guy who’s under six-foot, he gets himself in good positions.

“He’s hard-working – that’s what he is – he will always put a shift in. He’s not the quickest, don’t expect him to go past two, three defenders – that’s not his game – but as a finisher, he lost his confidence and form a little bit over the last 18 months, and he’s another player, like Izzy Brown and Josh Windass – all the signings, you could say – they’re hungry and they’ve got points to prove.

“Kachunga is a good age and Wednesday have only given him a one-year deal, so they basically put the ball in Kachunga’s court to say – ‘you’ve got to produce the goods this season if you want us to offer you something longer’ and so Kachunga will be, I’m sure, pulling out all the stops to get his career back on track.”

Are you happy that Kachunga is now an Owls player?

TIF Thoughts…

So, judging by Howson’s comments on the player, it seems as though he feels that signing Kachunga was a good piece of business from the Owls and the journalist also seems to have plenty of confidence in the 28-year-old and his ability.

It will be interesting to see how Kachunga performs with his new club, given that he hasn’t been in great goalscoring form in recent years, with the forward having scored just four goals over the last three seasons.

However, Kachunga has performed more impressively in his two seasons in the Championship than he did in his two seasons in the Premier League, so hopefully, for the Owls, the player can reproduce the form he enjoyed during his first season at Huddersfield Town when he scored 12 goals and provided four assists in England’s second-tier.
