Sheffield Wednesday journalist Dom Howson discussed the latest news concerning the Owls on the most recent edition of the Singing The Blues podcast and spent some time talking about the possibility of Wednesday bringing Newcastle United’s Jacob Murphy back to Hillsborough.

Murphy spent the 2019/20 season on loan with Wednesday and enjoyed a positive campaign, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in the league last term, ending the season as the Owls’ second-highest goalscorer and joint-third-highest assist provider in the league.

We will look at Marcelo Bielsa to kick off this quiz on the Championship's managers, which of these national teams has the Leeds United boss managed?

The £3.15m-rated winger has been linked with a move away from St. James’ Park during the current transfer window, with Scottish Premiership side Rangers reportedly eyeing a move for the 25-year-old (as per MailSport via the Daily Record).

Howson discussed the possibility of Wednesday bringing Murphy back to Hillsborough during this recent edition of the Singing The Blues podcast, saying: “When I asked Garry Monk about Jacob Murphy in his pre-match press conference, he still hadn’t shut the door on that, but I do think that that’s going to be a tall order when you look at the number of clubs that are interested in Jacob Murphy, the fact Newcastle are taking a close look at him right now in pre-season – and he’s done quite well by all accounts.

“I think they’re after Ryan Fraser, Newcastle, so it might be that you get a bit of a domino effect of where if Newcastle get that deal over the line, then maybe Jacob Murphy might become available and not be part of their plans.”

Do you think that Jacob Murphy is likely to return to Hillsborough for the 2020/21 campaign?

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, it appears as though Garry Monk is open to the idea of Murphy returning to Hillsborough and a Wednesday return for the 25-year-old Englishman might be dependent on whether or not Newcastle United want to hold onto him, and if not, then whether or not the Owls will be able to beat the competition to the player’s signature.

Considering how well he performed for the Yorkshire-based club on loan last season, it isn’t too surprising to see that Wednesday would seemingly like to have Murphy in their squad for the 2020/21 campaign to help in their battle against relegation, with the Owls starting the Championship season at the bottom of the table after being given a 12-point deduction.
