Supporters of Leeds United have been airing their thoughts on whether or not the Whites should sign Ollie Watkins from Brentford.
According to a recent report from BBC Sport, the Bees’ striker will be available to purchase for £18m this summer.
That is due to the fact that the English frontman has a clause in his contract which has been activated after the west London club failed to gain promotion to the Premier League following their play-off final defeat to Fulham on Tuesday night.
Supposedly, Crystal Palace are currently leading a number of other clubs which are interested in the 24-year-old attacker.
The news in this report was shared to Leeds fans by James Marshment, and it had lots of them talking.
BBC reporting that a clause in Ollie Watkins' deal means he can leave Brentford for just £18m following their promotion failure.
Likely to be no shortage of takers. Multiple reports suggesting Leeds will be along his suitors— James Marshment (@marshyleeds) August 5, 2020
Not cheap but if we can get him for £20m that would be a good signing.

We should ‘ dive ‘ in and table a bid.

Over the 2019/20 season, Watkins was in imperious form for the Bees as he bagged an impressive 26 goals and three assists in 49 Championship appearances (per WhoScored).

How would a club put themselves in front of the queue James if the £18m is a given?

Following his impressive record in the Championship, Watkins earned a stellar 7.26/10 average rating which made him Brentford’s second-best performer.
However, other Leeds supporters were much more pessimistic about the possibility of signing the 24-year-old Englishman for £18m.
He’ll be at Villa for next season. Dean Smith knows him. Villa need a striker. Wouldnt be surprised of they sell Grealish and get both Watkins and Benrahma

Will go to villa

As can be seen in these responses from Leeds fans, some believed that Marcelo Bielsa’s side should attempt to sign the forward and others either believed that they should not – or wouldn’t even be successful if they tried.
