Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news update involving Shane Duffy that recently emerged on social media.

It was reported that talks with Brighton seem to be heading towards a ‘successful conclusion’ for the Hoops, and that a deal could be concluded by the middle of the week.

McGowan’s tweet about Duffy caught the attention of many Celtic fans, who flocked to this news and made their opinions very clear.

Some Celtic fans believe that the club should have sealed the signing of Duffy before their 2-1 loss to Ferencvaros in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League last week.

Duffy is known to be a Celtic fan and he has been ‘keen’ on a Parkhead switch. Some other Celtic fans also talked about this news update.

All in all, there seems to be a mixed reaction about Celtic’s potential signing of Duffy and some fans are pretty happy about the club possibly acquiring his services soon.

Duffy wasn’t exactly a regular for Brighton in the 2019/20 Premier League season, posting an average match rating of 6.71/10 while making only 12 starts for the club. The 2018/19 campaign was much better, where he played a lot more for the Seagulls. He played 35 games that year, picking up an impressive rating of 7.11 (as per WhoScored).

This suggests that he can be a capable player if he plays on a regular basis. Celtic fans can only hope that Duffy gets regular first-team football at Parkhead and he recaptures his form from the 2018/19 campaign should he seal his switch.
