Speaking on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, Peter Martin claimed that ‘the writing’s on the wall’ for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

Since joining Rangers from HJK Helsinki for £1.08 million back in 2017, Morelos has gone on to be a massive hit at Ibrox, scoring an astonishing 77 goals and providing 30 assists over his 138 appearances for the club.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on this Rangers top goalscorers quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... Who is Rangers' current top Scottish Premiership goalscorer this season?

This has seen the 24-year-old’s market value rocket from £900,000 to £13.5 million since his arrival, making him the most valuable player in Scotland.

Meanwhile, there has been much interest in the striker this summer, with Ligue 1 side Lille said to have offered €15 million (£13.5 million) plus €2 million (£1.8 million) in bonuses for the Colombia international, while Rangers are said to want at least a figure of €20 million (£18.1 million) for the forward.

On the subject of Morelos’ future, Martin claimed on The Football Show that everything points to the 24-year-old leaving the club sooner rather than later.

Speaking after the Gers confirmed the signing of Kemar Roofe from Anderlecht – and prior to the subsequent signing of Cedric Itten – Martin suggested that a second attacking arrival at Ibrox, which has since occurred, will all but spell the end for Morelos’ Rangers career.

He said: “The main rumour flying about is that Rangers, off the back of signing Kemar Roofe, will add another signing very shortly as well. If he’s [Steven Gerrard] signing two strikers, I think the writing’s on the wall for your man, Morelos.”

TIF Thoughts…

Despite Rangers’ apparent refusal to let Morelos go for less than their asking price, the fact that the club has now signed two new strikers this transfer window following Itten’s arrival from St. Gallen would suggest that the Gers are indeed resigned to the fact that they will lose Morelos this summer.
