Former Rangers player Andy Halliday has recently heaped praise on Rangers’ English attacker Brandon Barker.

The Gers secured the arrival of the attacker from Manchester City during the summer of 2019 and Barker signed a three-year deal with the club which has two seasons left to run (per BBC).

Since his arrival at Ibrox, Barker has made just 16 appearances for Rangers in which he has netted only one goal and no assists (per Transfermarkt).

However, in the latest episode of the Open Goal podcast, Halliday was full of praise for the 23-year-old winger.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% in this Rangers 2019/20 season quiz. First up, which French side did Rangers beat at Ibrox 4-0 in a pre-season friendly?

He said: “He’s one of the best trainers. He’s got days where he just beats the full team and scores and I think, supposedly, they played a friendly against Plymouth [Argyle] during the week and he was unbelievable.

“That’s one thing I’d say, wingers tend to be confidence players and he’s never had a run in the team. I don’t think he’s ever played any more than two games in a row.

“See, Ryan Kent’s first year at Rangers, he was so good because he was out wide all the time, he was taking people on one-on-one – Brandon’s the same.

“So, obviously, the way they’re playing now is a bit different but he did pick up a lot of good spaces in the second half [against Kilmarnock] and I thought he was good.

“I think the majority of the team was good in the second half so he deserves the plaudits that he got.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Halliday had to say, he clearly believes that if Barker had a run in the team then he would begin delivering solid performances.

During Rangers’ 2-0 victory on Saturday, Barker delivered an impressive 7.01/10 match rating (per WhoScored), so hopefully, that will have been enough to earn him a run in the team.

Considering the rating is far better than the 6.12/10 average rating he delivered over four Europa League appearances during the 2019/20 term (per WhoScored), it certainly seems a better performance than what Steven Gerrard has seen from him previously.
