On the latest episode of the BBC Sportsound podcast, Craig Levein, Tom English and Darryl Broadfoot have been discussing the latest goings-on in Scottish football, following the start of the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership season last weekend.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode was Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman was superb for Neil Lennon’s side last season; contributing 21 goals and 12 assists in 27 top-flight appearances (per Transfermarkt). It is no surprise, therefore, that the 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Celtic Park this summer.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Here’s what those on the podcast had to say about the former PSG man, first with Broadfoot airing his opinion on the striker:

“He was absolutely superb for Celtic at the weekend, probably one of the biggest talents we’ve seen in Scotland for many, many years.”

Former Celtic striker John Hartson then added his opinion on the French forward, saying:

“With what’s at stake this season, he’s all of a sudden being talked about even more so because he’s such a pivotal player to Celtic and it goes without saying, I’m a huge fan. He’s an outstanding player.”

TIF Thoughts…

It is no surprise to hear Hartson being so complimentary of Edouard when you consider that the 22-year-old has contributed 63 goals and 31 assists in just 127 appearances (per Transfermarkt) for the Bhoys.

Is Edouard the best player to have ever played in the Scottish Premiership?

As Hartson suggests, the Frenchman may well prove to be pivotal in the Hoops’ chances of securing their 10th league title in a row this season, so long as they can see off any potential advances from other clubs.
