Presenter Peter Martin believes that Celtic manager Neil Lennon will keep striker Leigh Griffiths at Parkhead, despite the controversy surrounding the Scotsman.

Martin was recently hosting the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel discussed many issues surrounding Scottish football. One thing that they discussed was the situation of Griffiths and if Lennon will want the striker to stay at Celtic or not.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Some images involving Griffiths had recently appeared on social media and he was seen hosting a party. He was ‘reminded of his responsibilities’ later on. This comes some weeks after the striker had turned up for training in an overweight condition.

When talking about Griffiths, Martin said that Lennon will keep Griffiths at Parkhead and he will not leave the club this summer.

Do you think Neil Lennon will keep Griffiths at Celtic?

Yes, he will

Yes, he will

No, he'll sell him

No, he'll sell him

Martin said: “Well, let me be blunt about this – I don’t think they’ll ditch him at all. [I had] written about it in a column today – basically because, quite simply, the only way we get ditched [is] if you held a rave party in his living room and put it live out on Instagram and Twitter because this is the season of all seasons.

“All bets are off. He will be in there because quite simply, he [Lennon] needs him.”

TIF Thoughts…

Griffiths had been an important player for the Hoops in the 2019/20 season and he had impressed for them in the second half of the campaign.

He scored nine goals in the Premiership across the whole season and this included a hat-trick against St. Mirren. He also got four assists (as per Transfermarkt).

This goes to show how important a player he can be for Celtic. The Hoops were unbeaten in the league in the second half of the 2019/20 season and that is a reflection of the impact he had in the previous campaign. If he can put all the issues behind him and get himself back in the first team, his goals could prove crucial for Celtic once again.
