Neil Lennon did an interview following Celtic’s 5-1 win over Hamilton Academical on Sunday that featured on a recent edition of the BBC’s Sportsound Scottish Football podcast and during that interview, the Northern Irish coach spent some time talking about his side’s transfer plans.

Celtic managed to get their 2020/21 Scottish Premiership campaign off to a positive start on Sunday as they earned a dominant 5-1 win over Hamilton thanks to an Odsonne Edouard hat-trick, as well as goals from Jeremie Frimpong and Patryk Klimala.

Starting with an easy one- apart from Paris Saint-Germain, which other French club did Edouard play for?

The Hoops have signed just one player on a permanent deal so far this summer, former AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas, who was an unused substitute in Sunday’s Scottish Premiership fixture. Mohamed Elyounoussi also extended his loan from Southampton by another year earlier this summer. Lennon was asked about his club’s recruitment plans in his post-match interview that featured on this recent edition of the BBC’s Sportsound Scottish Football podcast.

With regard to his side’s transfer plans, the Celtic boss said: “Hopefully we can work on one or two this week. We’re happy with the squad, we want to add one or two because apart from Moi [Elyounoussi] and obviously Vasilis [Barkas] coming in, we’re a little bit down on numbers on last year, but only if it’s right for the club and we think it’s the right one to do.”

TIF Thoughts…

As per Transfermarkt, more players have left Parkhead than have arrived at Celtic so far this summer, so it may be understandable why the Hoops would want to make more additions to their squad, as Lennon has shared, in order to avoid having squad depth issues this season.
