Retired Scottish striker and podcast pundit Kevin Kyle has been discussing Celtic’s French forward Odsonne Edouard and his transfer value.

Last season, the 22-year-old frontman was in imperious form for the Hoops as he bagged a whopping 21 goals and 12 assists in 27 Premiership appearances (per Transfermarkt).

Furthermore, in Celtic’s first game of the new season, the Frenchman bagged a hat-trick against Hamilton Academical and earned a stellar 9.49/10 match rating (per WhoScored).

So, in the latest episode of The Open Goal Podcast, Kyle heaped praise on the striker and speculated over how much he would cost to sign.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

He said: “I would say [he would cost] £30m. What you’re getting with Edouard is, as good as he is in the Celtic team and as good a Celtic team it is, if he goes to a top club in England with even more superstars in the team, how good will he become?

“I think he’s next-level. I wouldn’t say he’s like that old cliche that they used to say about Wayne Rooney [being like] the old kid in the park, it isn’t like that. He just looks like he’s so relaxed about his game.

“He understands where he is, he knows his touch. It’s as if [he’s] like, ‘Oh, have I got to do it there and there? I’ll just turn up on the day for 60 minutes and then I’ll get a wee hat-trick, then I’ll come off.’

“Celtic just keep producing these signings from somewhere that are going to be really good players.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Kyle had to say, he clearly highly rates the French forward and believes that he would cost somewhere in the region of £30m to sign.

Would you say £30m for Odsonne Edouard would be a fair price?

No, I don't think that's right

However, Edouard has two years left on his contract at Parkhead and a market value of only £13.5m according to Transfermarkt, which may suggest that £30m is slightly over the odds.
