A Christopher Jullien interview featured on a recent edition of the BBC’s Sportsound Scottish Football podcast and the Celtic defender spent some time talking about his Hoops teammate and compatriot Odsonne Edouard during the interview.

Jullien joined Celtic last summer, moving to Parkhead from Ligue 1 side Toulouse for £7.2m. Edouard also played for Toulouse in the past, having spent some time on loan with Les Violets in the 2016/17 season.

Edouard and Jullien are currently teammates at Celtic, however, the pair did play together previously, during their time at Toulouse.

Jullien talked about his first time meeting Edouard, and how the 22-year-old has changed as a player since then, in an interview that featured on this recent edition of the BBC’s Sportsound Scottish Football podcast, saying: “When I met him in Toulouse he was just 18, he was just beginning and in Toulouse, he didn’t have the trust of the club.

“When he arrived, he was just on loan and seeing him today, how he’s confident on the field with the ball, without the ball, with his teammates, he just shows everything, you know?

“When you have the coach behind you, [who] is always on your side and trusts you and when you have a club who trusts you, mentally, you have to just express yourself on the field.

“That’s what I see [as] the [biggest] difference during the time I met Odsonne at the beginning and now to see him being, just a man, you know?”

Did you think that Edouard would score as many goals as he has since joining Celtic when he first moved to Parkhead?

TIF Thoughts…

Edouard scored just one goal and made no assists in 17 appearances for Toulouse, however, he has been far more impactful during his time at Celtic, scoring 63 goals and providing 31 assists in 127 appearances for the Glasgow-based club.

He was the Hoops’ top goalscorer in all competitions for both the 2018/19 season and the 2019/20 season.

With that in mind, it may be fair to say that Edouard has developed positively during his time at Parkhead and perhaps he has benefitted from the additional trust that he has been given at Celtic, as Jullien discussed.
