On the latest episode of PLZ Soccer – The Football Show, Peter Martin, Tam McManus, Hugh MacDonald and Alan Rough have been discussing the latest goings-on at Celtic.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode was reported Celtic transfer target, David Turnbull. Neil Lennon’s side have been heavily linked with a move for the Motherwell man, with Sky Sports recently suggesting that the Hoops have made a fresh approach for the 21-year-old midfielder, with a fee close to being agreed between the two sides.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Here’s what Rough had to say about the youngster during the video:

“David Turnbull, I thought in the last couple of weeks he showed a wee bit of class that other players don’t have at this precise moment in time and I could see why they’d want him.

“It’s a [troubling] one for me in that Celtic midfield because I think [Callum] McGregor and [Ryan] Christie are fantastic, I think the pace they play [at], the touch, they’ve got quick feet, I think they’re head and shoulders above everybody. It’ll be interesting to see, it’s a lot of money, if it was £3 million, to slot him into that midfield and where he goes because he’s a quality player and you can see he’s getting back to where he was.”

TIF Thoughts…

Celtic were close to signing Turnbull last year before an unfortunate injury meant he was unable to complete his medical.

The Motherwell man has impressed in the opening five SPL fixtures this season; contributing one goal and averaging a superb 7.25 rating (per WhoScored). So you can certainly understand why Lennon is seemingly keen to bring him to Celtic Park.

Do you think Celtic will sign Turnbull?

No

Although Rough clearly thinks a lot of Turnbull, he raises the problem that he may struggle to get into Celtic’s midfield when you consider the form of McGregor and Christie, so it will be interesting to see how much he would feature should he sign for the Hoops this summer.
