Podcast pundit Adam Price has been heaping praise on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Following the Old Gold’s 1-0 victory over Olympiacos at Molineux on Thursday night, the 32-year-old stopper was awarded a stellar 10/10 match rating by the Express and Star.

Across the 2019/20 season, though, Patricio delivered a slightly uninspiring 6.63/10 average rating in the Premier League over 38 appearances (per WhoScored).

However, in the latest episode of the Wolves Fancast following Wolves’ victory in the Europa League, Price was full of praise for the Portuguese goalkeeper.

To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

He said: “All these teams want ‘keepers, like [David] de Gea’s had a suspect season, Chelsea are throwing tens and tens of millions around for unproven ‘keepers like Kepa [Arrizabalaga].

“You think, ‘how lucky are we?’ Honestly, how lucky are we to have Portugal’s number one? He saved us on, what, two, three occasions [against Olympiacos] easily.

“He’s had a standout season, easily. I mean, he’ll be in the top two for Player of the Season, I think, and I think we could probably agree on this podcast, I think he’ll probably get our votes for it, to be honest.

“He’s had such a good season and in one game, typified it [against Olympiacos].”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the podcast pundit had to say, he clearly believes that the goalkeeper will be in the running for Wolves’ Player of the Season award.

Would Rui Patricio be your Player of the Season for Wolves?

In terms of his average rating for the Old Gold in the Premier League, Patricio was only Wolves’ 11th-best performer during the 2019/20 season (per WhoScored).

However, with the stopper having kept the joint-third-most clean sheets in the Premier League, it is difficult to argue against his quality.
