To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

Ahead of Wolves’ fixture against Sevilla in the Europa League tonight, Spiers discussed the futures of a few members of the Wolves squad, should Nuno Espirito Santo’s side not win the Europa League and therefore miss out on European football next season.

Mark Chapman asked Spiers if he could see some important members of the team leaving, and here is how he responded:

“I mean, obviously with Arsenal winning the cup final there’s no European football as it stands for next season and that’s where this club wants to be.

“It’s a club in a hurry; they are very open about that, and they want to be one of the biggest clubs in the world in seven, eight years’ time.

“So, I guess there is an issue if they are not in Europe next season, then the likes of Nuno [Espirito Santo] and Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore may look elsewhere, but I don’t get that impression.

“A lot of these guys gave up Champions League football to move to Molineux that was in the Championship in some cases like Nuno, like Ruben Neves, like Diogo Jota – they left really big clubs in the Champions League to move to Wolves and to buy into this project.”

So, although Spiers thinks some of the players and even the manager might look to move on, he doesn’t believe they will even if Wolves miss out on European football for next term.

Could you see some players leaving if Wolves miss out on European football?

Yes, it is possible

Yes, it is possible

No, they will all stay

No, they will all stay

TIF Thoughts…

Spiers makes some good points, especially about Neves and Jota, because they left Porto and Atletico Madrid respectively to move to Molineux when Wolves were in the Championship.

So, maybe missing out on European football might not matter for them.

However, it could be important for the likes of Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore, who have both been linked with moves to big Champions League clubs, so if the Old Gold do not win the Europa League, could they leave?

We will have to wait and see.
