The Athletic journalist Tim Spiers has heaped praise on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Wolves’ gaffer has been at the helm of the club since 2017, with the Molineux outfit having appointed the former Porto boss in May of that year (per BBC).

Since then, the Old Gold have witnessed a meteoric rise after they were champions of the Championship and then recorded back-to-back seventh-place finishes in the Premier League (per Transfermarkt).

So, in the latest episode of The Molineux View podcast, following Wolves’ 1-0 defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League, Spiers heaped praise on Nuno Santo.

To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

He said: “Look at them [against Sevilla], they’re out on their feet and they gave it everything. [Nuno Santo] gets that out of them, he gives so much energy to this team and they give it back.

“They adore and respect him hugely and he loves them in return. Yeah, he’s done special things with this group.

“People like [Matt] Doherty, people like Romain Saiss, [Ruben] Vinagre [on Tuesday] and [Conor] Coady, obviously his evolution’s been wonderful.

“He’s done special things, he really has, to get to the cusp of a Europa League semi-final in three years, it’s a miracle – unbelievable.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Spiers had to say, he is clearly full of praise for what Nuno Santo has achieved at Molineux in three years and quite right too.

Does Nuno Espirito Santo have the potential to be Wolves' best-ever manager?

No, he's not good enough

No, he's not good enough

The season prior to the Portuguese manager’s arrival, the Old Gold finished 15th in the Championship table, which shows just how far they have come under his leadership.

While Wolves have not qualified for European football next season (via BBC), the fact that they marginally bettered the points total from the 2018/19 season in the most recent term shows that they are still improving.

So, there is still seemingly plenty of reason for Wolves fans to be optimistic.
