The Express and Star journalist Joe Edwards has been discussing the situation surrounding Nuno Espirito Santo’s contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Portuguese manager has been situated at Molineux since the summer of 2017 and his current deal with the club is set to expire next summer (per Transfermarkt).

So far in the current transfer window, the Old Gold have only acquired the services of one new player as Matija Sarkic arrived on a free transfer from Aston Villa (per Transfermarkt).

So, in the latest episode of the E&S Wolves Podcast, Edwards stated that who Wolves bring in during the transfer window may have a bearing on if he signs a new contract.

To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

He said: “I think it [Wolves’ transfer business] comes into the thinking [regarding his new contract] a bit, yeah. I think it’s got to really.

“We’ve said already that those comments post-Sevilla were a bit of a statement and he needs the backing really. I mean, he’s held up his end of the bargain obviously.

“I think it’s the time that he wants a bit more resources, a few more players and why not? You can’t begrudge him that at all. He’s made gold out of such a small squad.

“[It’s] by his choice, that’s not because he’s been limited in what [he can add], that’s his way of thinking but it’s about getting more quality within that small group.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Edwards had to say, he seemingly believes that what business Wolves do in the transfer window will “come into the thinking” regarding Nuno Santo’s new contract.

Do Wolves need to back Nuno Espirito Santo more than ever before in the current transfer window?

Yes, it needs to happen

Yes, it needs to happen

No, it's not necessary

No, it's not necessary

Hopefully, for Wolves fans, some incomings at Molineux will begin to be seen in the not-too-distant future as one free transfer signing with around two weeks left until the 2020/21 Premier League season begins does not bode particularly well.
