Wolves Fancast host David Evans has aired his concerns over the injury that was picked up by Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Jonny Castro Otto on Thursday night.

During the Old Gold’s 1-0 victory over Olympiacos at Molineux, Jonny was substituted off in the first half for Ruben Vinagre (per BBC).

The Spanish full-back made way due to picking up an injury and a report from the Birmingham Mail stated that he left the field ‘clearly fearing his season may be over’.

In the latest episode of the Wolves Fancast following the Europa League clash, Evans discussed his fears over the potential injury to Jonny.

To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

He said: “One player who might be a bit of a miss is Jonny. He went off injured in the first half, [it] was kind of [an] off-the-ball incident.

“Right after the [full-time] whistle when the players went in a big circle, he seemed to have a big strap on his leg, which is always like a precautionary thing.

“Given that the games are so close together, unless that’s something [that’s] very minor, that can be worked off in a few days, I would imagine he’s off now for the season. Just a guess.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the podcast host had to say, he is clearly concerned that the full-back may not appear for Wolves again until next season.

Would you class Jonny Castro Otto as a key player for Wolves?

Should Jonny be absent for the remainder of Wolves’ Europa League games, it will likely be a blow for Nuno Espirito Santo, as the defender was the eighth-best performer for the Old Gold during the 2019/20 Premier League season (per WhoScored).

Furthermore, Vinagre was the man who replaced the Spaniard on the night and he was only Wolves’ 12th-best performer during the league season.

So, it seems clear that Jonny would be missed by Wolves if he is absent until next season.
