On the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, Dave Walker and @ExWHUemployee have been discussing the latest goings-on at the London Stadium outfit, with a focus on some of the transfer business that could be done by David Moyes’ side between now and the end of the window.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode was the future of West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The Hammers signed the former England international on a free transfer after he left Arsenal in 2018 and in the two years since, he has managed to make just 18 first-team appearances for the London club, with injury issues proving to be a huge problem for the 28-year-old (per Transfermarkt).

To kick-off this quiz on David Moyes on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at the London Stadium against?

Here’s what @ExWHUemployee had to say about Wilshere on the podcast: (1:03:49)

“Wilshere, there’s some interest from America in potentially taking him.

“Again, it would be like Winston Reid and Roberto where we take a massive loss on his wages and still have to pay them up until he leaves. He’s on £100,000 a week.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what the in-the-know pundit suggests, although there is interest from abroad in Wilshere, his wages may still prove to be a stumbling block, as he earns so much at West Ham.

Do you think West Ham should let Wilshere leave this summer?

No

Considering the injury problems the midfielder has faced and will perhaps continue to face in the future, it may well be best for the Hammers to cut their losses on the £4.32 million-rated man and just ensure he leaves the club by any means necessary this summer, as they will surely want to avoid having to continue paying him throughout the 2020/21 season before his contract expires.

Hopefully, for both Wilshere and West Ham, a move away can be secured this summer so that he can try and get his career back on track.
