On the latest episode of The Extra Inch podcast, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark and Bardi have been discussing some of the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on Spurs’ start to pre-season and answering questions regarding tactics and transfers from fans of the show.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘We’re back for a pre-season round-up‘, was Spurs youngster Jack Roles. The academy graduate spent the most recent season on loan with Cambridge United in League Two, making 25 appearances in all competitions for them (per Transfermarkt).

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what the journalist had to say about Roles on the podcast:

“It doesn’t look that good for Jack Roles that he was involved in the U23 matches and not the first-team matches, but again, he’s one who I would say would be looking to get to the Championship.

“I feel like a Championship loan for him could be transformative and could completely change the course of what he becomes because if he does well in the Championship, and he’s a goal-scoring midfielder, you don’t get many goal-scoring midfielders these days, that’s quite a rare thing, he could easily become a Premier League player, I think.”

TIF Thoughts…

We can see why Miller describes Roles as a goal-scoring midfielder, as he has excellent records with the majority of the academy sides at Spurs, although he is yet to make his first-team debut for the Lilywhites (per Transfermarkt).

Do you think Roles will make it as a Premier League player?

Perhaps, if he can secure a Championship loan and impress, then he will prove himself to be good enough to play in the Premier League for the North London club in the future.
