Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a transfer rumour linking the North London club with a move for Benfica midfielder Pizzi.
According to Portuguese news outlet A Bola (via The Spurs Web), the Lilywhites have been in contact with the Liga NOS side about a potential move for the 30-year-old, although they are yet to make an official bid. The report also suggests that Jorge Jesus’ side would be willing to sell the Portuguese international for around €20 million (£18.04 million) should they receive a bid this summer.
In the most recent season, the £19.8 million-rated midfielder enjoyed a superb campaign for Benfica, contributing 18 goals and 14 assists in just 34 league appearances; which saw him average an impressive 7.61 rating (per WhoScored).
If the Benfica man had produced the same level of performance in the Premier League last season, he would have been comfortably rated as Spurs’ best player across the campaign (per WhoScored), so you can certainly understand the reported interest being shown in him.
Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Pizzi can be seen in the tweets below.

Consistent playmaker. Wouldn’t be used as a DM but gives us more creativity in attack especially going forward on the right

He’s class! This guy had a season rating of 7.8 and Lo Celso was 6.6 and we rave about him. He’s 30 which sucks but 1-2 of top football left in him

Plenty of Spurs fans seem to rate Pizzi and feel that he would be a good addition to Jose Mourinho’s side.

Very good player, usually plays off the right for Benfica. Chance creator, good on set pieces because of his delivery. Will be 31 in October, so not sure he fits Levy’s transfer plans and Benfica has “reportedly” put a €20m price tag on him. Contributed to 30+ goals last season.

One fan suggested that the potential arrival of Pizzi could spell the end for Tanguy Ndombele at the North London club.

Overall, it seems as if the majority of Spurs fans would welcome a move for the Portuguese midfielder this summer.
