Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest update on Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, which suggests that he will sign a contract with Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days.
According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano (via Daily Hotspur), the Danish international is set to sign a deal with Jose Mourinho’s side in the coming days. Spurs have been regularly linked with a move for the 25-year-old in recent months, and they look to have seen off competition from Everton to secure the signing of the former Bayern Munich man this summer.
In the most recent Premier League season, the midfielder contributed no goals and just one assist for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, although he still averaged a strong 6.83 rating across his 33 appearances in the top-flight (per WhoScored). With WhoScored listing his strengths as aerial duels, interceptions and concentration, perhaps Hojbjerg can establish himself as the replacement for former Spurs man Victor Wanyama, who departed the north London club back in March.
