On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown and Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on some of the transfer deals that could potentially happen during the summer window.

One topic of discussion on the recent podcast, which was titled ‘Summer Transfer Window (Ft. Lyall Thomas)‘, was the rumours surrounding Spurs midfielder Harry Winks.

It was suggested earlier this month that Manchester City were keen on signing the England international this summer, but Thomas was quick to quash these rumours on the podcast.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what he had to say about the 24-year-old and the chances of him leaving the club this summer:

“I don’t think so. I was quite surprised to see that report, to be honest, because Winks is not a name that’s come up with me in any conversations I’ve had this summer as being somebody that either wants to leave, or somebody that Spurs would be open to selling either, so I was quite surprised to see it.

“He played a lot under Mourinho. He was first-choice for the back end of the season and he did really, really well. So I’d be very, VERY surprised by that and Winks is almost like Harry Kane in being Mr. Tottenham; he’s a Tottenham fan, his family are Tottenham fans. He came through the academy. He’s loved at the club and loves the club.”

TIF Thoughts…

As Thomas suggests, Winks was a regular under Mourinho in the most recent Premier League season; making 31 appearances in the top-flight and averaging a less than impressive 6.57 rating (per Whoscored).

However, the midfielder is just 24-years-old and is an England international, so you could argue that he still has lots of room to improve, and he also contributes towards Tottenham’s homegrown quota.

Would you let Winks go this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Therefore, from what Thomas has to say, it seems unlikely that we will see Winks join Manchester City this summer.
