On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown and Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on some of the transfer deals that could potentially happen during the summer window.

One topic of discussion on the recent podcast, which was titled ‘Summer Transfer Window (Ft. Lyall Thomas)‘, was Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

Spurs have been linked with the Italian in recent weeks, and Thomas seems to confirm that the Lilywhites have certainly looked at signing the 21-year-old when assessing the likelihood of a number of supposed Tottenham targets joining the club this summer.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what he had to say about the youngster on the podcast:

“We’re in a position with [the pandemic] and the financial impact, where that kind of huge dissection of a squad just isn’t possible this summer. Zaniolo they’ve looked at, he’s a really good young player, [really] talented one. So is [Jack] Grealish, so is [Leon] Bailey. But no, I can’t see them coming to Tottenham this summer.”

TIF Thoughts…

Although Thomas confirms that Spurs have at least looked at Zaniolo, he seems to suggest that the financial impact of the current viral outbreak means that the North London club are unlikely to sign the Italian youngster this summer, which is perhaps unsurprising when you consider that he is currently valued at £40.5 million by Transfermarkt.

Would you like to see Spurs return for Zaniolo in the future?

The Roma man has also struggled with injury problems in recent seasons, so perhaps it is for the best that Spurs avoid signing him for now, but perhaps he could be one that they consider in the future.
