Tottenham Hotspur-focused Twitter account @HotspurRelated recently posted a tweet that included some comments that were made by ex-Spurs winger Marcus Edwards during a recent interview with iNews.
Edwards, who currently plays for Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal’s top tier, discussed his time at Spurs and shared some regret about not making as many appearances as he’d hoped during his time at the club.
Edwards made just one senior appearance for Tottenham before departing for Vitoria on a free transfer last September and the 21-year-old winger is quoted as saying: “Obviously, I wanted to play for Tottenham more times than I did because that’s my childhood club, but I don’t dwell on it. I just move on.”
After Edwards’ declaration was shared by @HotspurRelated on Twitter, a lot of Spurs supporters replied to the post to react to the former Lilywhites winger’s comments.
Marcus Edwards says he wanted to make more #thfc appearances: "There was a period I was really close to getting in the team, then I was injured. I was out for six or seven months. I wanted to play for Tottenham more than I did because that is my childhood club." [iNews]

Some Spurs supporters shared that they would like to see Edwards return to Spurs, with one Tottenham fan stating that they believe the 21-year-old could become as good as Jadon Sancho or Phil Foden.
I’d have him back tomorrow.
He could be as good Sancho or Foden .— jason snell (@Jasonsnell17) August 12, 2020

Considering that he only made one senior appearance for Spurs, which was a 15-minute EFL Cup appearance versus Gillingham, it may be understandable why Edwards appears to be disappointed that he didn’t get more first-team opportunities at the north London club.
It may be fair to say that the 21-year-old enjoyed a fairly positive 2019/20 season, as he scored seven goals and made nine assists in Liga NOS last term. Only two Vitoria players scored more league goals than Edwards during the most recent campaign, while he was Vitoria’s top league assist provider.
With that in mind, it may be understandable why these Spurs fans seem to think that the winger could still have something to offer the Lilywhites.
