Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to social media in order to respond to the club’s tweet confirming the transfer of Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton.
The full-back came up through the ranks at Spurs and the club have wished him well for the future (via tottenhamhotspur.com). During his time with the Lilywhites, Walker-Peters made 24 appearances for the first-team, scoring one goal and providing his teammates with five assists (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).
In January, the 23-year-old moved to Southampton on loan, for whom he made 10 appearances prior to signing for the club permanently.
Here is how a sample of the Spurs faithful have responded to the news that the deal taking the right-back to the south coast has been completed via the social media platform.
Once Spurs always Spurs. Sad to see you go, best of luck in the future. #oneofourown

Was a pleasure watching you in our youth team, one of the best I’ve seen at that level. Wish you all the very best with your future career. ?

Do you think Spurs were right to cash in on Kyle Walker-Peters?
Yes
No
It’s clear from the above responses that these supporters wish the player well in his career. Some, however, have described themselves as feeling ‘gutted’ that the player has left, with one fan claiming it was a ‘mistake’ to allow the former England Under-21 international to leave.
Good luck @KWPeters always rated you! You’ll be missed brother ;( you’re always welcome back to the Spurs #COYS

Pretty gutted about this. @KWPeters is going to be a top class Prem player. Obvious from all the feedback from coaches at the club. Hopefully will be back in the future! ?

This just feels like a huge error. Very sorry to see him leave and feels all the more strange at a time when we have no reliable RB options. https://t.co/brLwx4X9FZ

Despite making just 10 appearances in the Premier League for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, his average performance rating in the top flight when representing the Saints last season was 6.86/10 (as per WhoScored.com), which is superior to that of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who moved the other way, as well as defensive ex-teammates Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier. Taking that into account, you can understand why some appear disappointed at the fact he has now left the Lilywhites.
