Football.London journalists Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest recently took part in a Facebook Live video, in which they discussed the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and answered questions from fans regarding transfers and the upcoming 2020/21 season.

One topic of discussion on the video was Tanguy Ndombele, with the 23-year-old midfielder having reportedly tested positive for the current viral outbreak earlier this week, meaning that he could potentially miss the rest of pre-season should he be forced to quarantine.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the French international during the video:

“The irony is, it’s a guy who we know had fitness issues last season and pre-season is the time that you fix those. I just hope it doesn’t play its part in bringing [his time at Spurs] to a close or being used as an excuse if the next six months don’t go his way. As I’ve always said when I write about Ndombele, the only person that can see Ndombele leave Tottenham Hotspur is Ndombele himself.

“I think if he kicks up a fuss and it becomes a real toxic atmosphere, then it would come to a point when it’s just not helping any of the players for him to actually be there, which is a travesty. People who I talk to within Tottenham think he’s the most talented player in the club but that’s not enough on its own.”

TIF Thoughts…

Gold clearly feels that it would be a big blow if Ndombele does definitely have the virus, as it would mean that Jose Mourinho wouldn’t be able to work on the player’s fitness issues from last season during pre-season. Considering the Premier League is set to kick off on the 12th September, the former Lyon man is perhaps unlikely to be fit by the time it restarts.

Do you think Ndombele will improve on his fitness issues in the upcoming season?

The journalist suggests that those at Spurs have high hopes for the midfielder but he feels that the Frenchman will have to work a lot harder if he wants to establish himself as a regular in Mourinho’s starting XI.
