Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest transfer report linking their club with a move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
According to Spanish news outlet Sport, as per Sport Witness (via Daily Hotspur), Spurs have a long-standing interest in the midfielder, having previously tried to sign him before. The Daily Mail had previously linked Tottenham with a move for the Croatian, while the new reports suggest Jose Mourinho is particularly keen on luring the midfielder to north London.
The Catalan club may now have to lower their asking price, as they are concerned that they could lose the 32-year-old for free next summer when his contract is set to expire.
During the 2019/20 campaign, the former Sevilla man made 31 appearances in the Spanish top-flight, contributing just one goal and three assists and the season saw him average a less than impressive 6.57 rating (per WhoScored).
Considering Spurs have already brought in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, it would perhaps be a surprise to see them sign another central midfielder, and the report suggests that the Lilywhites would most likely lose out on the Barcelona man, should Sevilla attempt to sign him as he is keen to return to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Dream come true
People replying to this saying he’s a squad player while we have Winks and Sissoko starting
32 years old and captained Sevilla to a UEL trophy, and was integral in the Barca UCL winning XI.

Class player. If the money is right, get it done, he would bring a wealth of experience and leadership to the midfield.
