On the latest episode of the TIFO Podcast, Joe Devine, Alex Stewart and Seb Stafford-Bloor have been discussing some ‘sensible transfers’ that Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Burnley should look to do in the summer transfer window.

One player suggested by Stafford-Bloor on the podcast, as a potential target for Spurs, was Mainz defender Jeremiah St. Juste. The Dutch centre-back enjoyed a solid campaign with the German side in the Bundesliga; averaging a 6.75 rating for his performances in the top-flight, which was enough to give him the seventh-highest rating of any player in Achim Beierlorzer’s squad across the campaign (per WhoScored).

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what the Athletic journalist had to say about the 23-year-old and why he thinks he would be a good signing for Jose Mourinho’s side this summer:

“He can play right-back and centre-back, which makes him feel a little bit more ‘Mourinho-esque’ to me. I’ve gone with Mainz’s Jeremiah St. Juste. [He’s a] really interesting player, he reminds me a little bit of Eric Dier in a way, because he is fundamentally a centre-half, but when he plays as a full-back, he is very aggressive. [He’s a] good footballer – as you’d expect from someone that’s come through Feyenoord. I like him.”

TIF Thoughts…

Considering the Dutch defender is valued at just £6.3 million by Transfermarkt, you could certainly argue that he could be an affordable option for the North London club this summer. However, considering the Bundesliga side paid £8.1 million for him just last summer (per Transfermarkt), you could also argue that they may be unwilling to let him go for less than what they paid for him just a year ago.

Do you think Spurs should move for St. Juste this summer?

However, when you consider that both Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker-Peters have both already departed Spurs this summer, and St. Juste has featured as both a right-back and a centre-back, you could argue that he would go some way towards replacing both of them, should Spurs make a move for the 23-year-old this summer.
