Tottenham Hotspur fan Lee McQueen thinks a potential transfer move for Southampton striker Danny Ings is a ‘no-brainer’ deal for Spurs.

This comes as McQueen recently made an appearance on The Last Word On Spurs Podcast to chat about a variety of subjects related to the London club.

On the topic of some potential incoming transfers the club should be looking to make this summer, McQueen shared his views on a possible move for Ings.

He said: “We have to go and sign Danny Ings. For me, it’s an absolute no-brainer. I don’t [care] if he’s £40 million, £45 million, £50 million, the guy’s got two years left on his Southampton contract, and with all due respect to Southampton, it is an upgrade to come to Tottenham Hotspur.

“We’ve obviously got a really good relationship in terms of the two clubs doing business. I think Danny Ings is the absolute real deal.

“If we were going to go and buy a striker to rival Harry Kane, for me, Danny Ings, homegrown player, English, genuine number nine, proven in the Premier League. I think we go and break the bank to sign him – and I say break the bank – £45-50 million or so will probably get him away to come to Tottenham Hotspur.”

Southampton signed Ings on a permanent deal back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Liverpool for a fee of £19.98 million after he had spent the season before on loan at the south coast club.

Ings was one of Southampton’s top performers last season after ending the 2019/20 campaign with an average match rating of 7.12/10 for his top-flight performances, in which he scored a total of 22 league goals (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

With Ings having such an impressive goalscoring season for Southampton last season, it’s no wonder McQueen thinks the 28-year-old could be a good addition to the Spurs squad to challenge Harry Kane, who ended the 2019/20 season with 18 league goals.
