Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have been reacting to a club announcement regarding the appointment of Ledley King as Spurs’ first-team assistant.
As revealed by the club on Thursday, King will join the first-team staff alongside the coaches, analysts and playing squad (per Spurs).
The former defender will also be supporting academy players who are looking to make the step up to Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad.
The statement which was shared by Spurs also contained quotes from Mourinho, who stated that he was “extremely pleased to be welcoming Ledley into the first-team group”. The announcement also revealed that Ricardo Formosinho had left the club after joining Spurs as a tactical analyst last year.
After the announcement was shared to social media by Spurs, lots of The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful flocked to it to air their thoughts.

Prior to his retirement in 2012, King spent the entirety of his playing career with Spurs after graduating from the club’s academy in the late ’90s (per Transfermarkt).
During his time with the north London club, the 39-year-old former centre-back made 323 appearances for Tottenham.
