How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

One of the issues that he and Ian McGarry talked about was the future of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg amid links to Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.

This is what Castles had to say on Spurs’ pursuit of the player, which was thought to be edging closer to a conclusion:

“We told you a while ago that Hojbjerg at Southampton was [Jose] Mourinho’s preferred option to strengthen the midfield, actually a priority signing for this summer.

“Everton have made an offer to Southampton for Hojbjerg, who is also of interest to Manchester City.

“I am told Daniel Levy’s concerned that the fee for the player is accelerating upwards. He was hoping to get him on the cheap because Hojbjerg only has a year of contract left at Southampton; Southampton need money in, but Everton and Manchester City’s interest has made that more complicated for him.”

So, it seems that chairman Daniel Levy is worried about the fee that Hojbjerg might cost Spurs this summer due to interest from other clubs.

Do you think Spurs will sign Hojbjerg?

TIF Thoughts…

The Dane will be allowed to leave St. Mary’s summer, and it was thought that he would be joining Mourinho at Spurs, with a fee reportedly agreed.

A separate deal would see Kyle Walker-Peters move in the opposite direction, but according to Castles, Levy is now worried about the fee for the former Bayern Munich man, despite claims that an agreement on his price tag had been reached.

So, it remains to be seen what happens there, but reports have suggested that Hojbjerg is indeed close to becoming a Tottenham player.

We will just have to wait and see if the fee for Hojbjerg continues to rise, as Castles has suggested, or if Spurs have agreed a deal around the mooted £15m mark.
